Tonight's 2 - 0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor ended a run of two draws, moving Liverpool back to the top of the Premier League.  But aside from the 3 points, the game also helped Jurgen Klopp set another record as Reds boss.

Since becoming Manager in October 2015, Klopp's Liverpool have played six games on Boxing Day, and the Reds have won all six!  No other Manager can boast such a perfect record on Boxing Day.

Of course, records don't really mean anything.  They don't give you extra points or trophies, and Klopp probably isn't even aware of the record he has set.  But football fans love records and statistics, that's why I'm writing this article - and why you're reading it.

Liverpool and Boxing Day

Including todays game, Liverpool have played 92 games on Boxing Day, winning 45, drawing 24 and losing 23.  That's a pretty healthy record, in fact, only Aston Villa and Manchester United have taken more points from Boxing Day fixtures.

In the Premier League era, Liverpool have played 26 times on Boxing Day, recording 16 wins, 5 draws and 5 loses.  Their last defeat was in 2013, against Manchester City, where the Reds lost 2 - 1.

Klopp brings extra Christmas Cheer....

Liverpool's Boxing Day record was already very good, but under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have become masters of the fixture.  In fact, since taking charge, Liverpool are yet to taste defeat on the 26th December.

Klopps Boxing Day Record

2015 : Liverpool 1 - 0 Leicester City
2017 : Liverpool 5 - 0 Swansea City
2018 : Liverpool 4 - 0 Newcastle United
2019 : Leicester City 0 - 4 Liverpool
2022 : Aston Villa 1 - 3 Liverpool
2023 : Burnley 0 - 2 Liverpool

Everybody loves Christmas, but Reds fans will be especially looking forward to Boxing Day next year, when Klopp and his players will be looking to make it seven wins out of seven.
