Despite making a solid start to life in the Saudi second division, Liverpool hero Robbie Fowler has been sacked after just 8 games in charge.
Despite winning six of his first eight games in charge, and winning the September Manager of the Month Award, Robbie Fowler has been surprisingly sacked by Al-Qadsiah.
The former Reds striker took charge of the second division team in July, his fourth managerial role in as many years. And after making a superb start to the season, winning six and drawing two games, it looked as though Fowler was set for a long and succesful stint in Saudi Arabia. Indeed, he leaves the team in second place in the table, just one point behind current leaders Al-Orabah, and in much better shape than when he joined them.
In a statement released yesterday, Al-Qadsiah confirmed,
"The management of Al Qadsiah Sports Club have decided to terminate the contractual relationship with first team football coach, Mr. Robbie Fowler. The club appreciates the coach's efforts and professionalism and wishes him all the success in his professional career."
Fowler has been replaced by Spanish coach, Michel, who has previously coached Seville, Marseille, Getafe and Olympiacos.
