The competition has had many names over its long history, but how many times has LFC won it?

Liverpool boast a proud and illustrious record in the Carabao Cup ( formerly known as the League Cup), holding the record for most wins - with 9 Titles to date.

Liverpool have won many Titles during its 120+ year history, but the Carabao Cup (as it is currently known) is definately one of the club's favourite competitions.

The cup competition started life in the 1960-61 season, and is open to all teams in the top 4 divisions of English football - meaning 92 teams enter the competition each season.  It was originally known as the Footlball League Cup, but after Sponsorship was sought to help fund the competition, the name has changed numerous times, to match the name of the name sponsor.

1960 - 1981 : Football League Cup
1981 - 1986 : The Milk Cup
1986 - 1990 : Littlewoods Cup
1990 - 1992 : Rumbelows Cup
1992 - 1998 : Coca-Cola Cup
1998 - 2003 : Worthingtons Cup
2003 - 2101 : Carling Cup
2012 - 2016 : Capital One Cup
2016 - 2017 : League Cup (no Sponsor)
2017 - Present : Carabao Cup

Liverpool Are League Cup Kings

With 9 victories in the competition (and 4 runners up spots), Liverpool are the undisputed kings of the competition, and have lifted the trophy on the following occasions :

1980-81 : Liverpool defeated West Ham 2-1 after a replay
1981 - 82 : Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-1
1982 - 83 : Liverpool defeated Manchester United 2-1
1983 - 84 : Liverpool defeated Everton 1-0 after a replay
1994 - 95 : Liverpool defeated Bolton Wanderers 2-1
2000 - 2001 : Liverpool defeated Birmingham City on penalties
2002 - 2003 : Liverpool defeated Manchester United 2-0
2011 - 2012 : Liverpool defeated Cardiff City on penalties
2021 - 2022 : Liverpool defeated Chelsea on penalties
