Ben Foster makes bold Liverpool prediction as he says Reds only third best team in the league?
Former Premier League goalkeeper Ben Foster has made the bold prediction that Liverpool will only finish 3rd in the league in the upcoming season.
Speaking exclusively to , Foster claimed that Liverpool were in ‘transition’ due to the departure of Mane, and that Liverpool were now only the ‘3rd best team in the league’.
Foster did not specify which teams he feels are better than Liverpool, though it is not difficult to assume that one of the teams is Manchester City. Whilst we can’t argue that City are looking incredibly strong and will be favourites for the title again this year, we can’t imagine who the other team is that Foster thinks will finish above us.
Chelsea would be the obvious choice but they are in more of a transition period that we are, with key players leaving and new players needing time to bed in. Tottenham are assembling an impressive squad, but it’s unlikely they will have the consistency to challenge over the entire season. Likewise Arsenal are making progress but their team is still too young to seriously challenge.
That only leaves Man Utd from the traditional Big 6. Again, they have made some signings, and Ten Hag appears to have them playing more as a team, but they still rely too much on Ronaldo (who doesn’t even want to be there) and will still leak goals, regardless of how much money they spent on new defender Martinez. Only a brave person would bet on United finishing above Liverpool this season.
Of course, Foster had a stint at Man United during his playing career so maybe he is just trying to wind Liverpool fans up with his comments.
