Heartbreak for Liverpool as City come from behind to take the Title...
Liverpool fans and players suffer heartbreak as Manchester City come from 2 goals down to snatch victory and take another Premier League Title.
For 75 minutes it looked like the dream could become a reality. Aston Villa led City 2-0 with just 15 minutes of the season remaining - then the inevitable happened. Within 7 minutes City had scored 3 goals and snatched the Title away from Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool. In truth, Liverpool never actually dislodged City from the top of the table. Struggling to break down a stubborn Wolves defence and looking uncharacteristically vulnerable at the back, Liverpool eventual win 3-1 was never going to be enough to win the title once City had taken the lead.
Fans and pundits will talk about what if's. What if Liverpool had been winning when City were 2-0 down. Would it have caused them to panic and not fight back for the win? What if Liverpool had not drawn earlier matches against Brighton, Spurs or Chelsea?
At the end of the day, what if's are irrelevant. Jurgen Klopp and his side have played a brilliant season. To claim 90 points in the league is a huge achievement, even if it is in vain. To win both domestic cups is a huge achievement! To even be in with a chance of winning the league on the final day is a huge achievement! To be in another European Cup Final is a huge achievement!
For now, fans and players can only see the pain and disappointment of coming so close. But in a few days, after the dust settles, we can all reflect on an amazing season, and be proud to be able to watch an amazing football team!
