Wednesday night's game will be the first time new boss Arne Slot experiences Champions League football at Anfield, as the Dutchman looks to add his own chapter to the club's storied history in Europe's greatest club competition.
Liverpool are back in Champions League action on Wednesday, as the Reds welcome Italian team Bologna to Anfield. The match is the second round of games to be played in the new 'League Phase' of the competition, with Liverpool currently sitting 7th in the Champions League table, having won their opening game against AC Milan two weeks ago.
Despite numerous decades playing in European competitions, Liverpool have never faced Bologna in a competitive match, so it will be interesting to see how the two teams match up.

Team News
Liverpool:
Arne Slot will likely play his strongest starting XI against Bologna, as the Reds look to build on their victory over AC Milan. That means Alisson, Van Dijk, Alexander-Arnold, Mac Allister, Salah, and Diaz all keeping their places.
Ryan Gravenberch and Andy Robertson would also be certain to start on Wednesday, however, both players suffered knocks against Wolves, with Gravenberch leaving Molyneux with an ice pack and strapping on his ankle. Arne Slot will provide updates on both players at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, with a final decision on both being taken on Wednesday. Darwin Nunez also missed the game against Wolves on Saturday with illness, but should make the squad on Wednesday.
That just leaves Harvey Elliott as the only other senior player on the injured list.
Bologna:
Bologna come into the match on a poor run of form, having won only 1 of their opening 6 games in Serie A. They did earn a 1 - 1 draw against Atalanta at the weekend, their 4th of the season. They are also missing several key players, with Lewis Ferguson, Oussama El Azzouzi, Nicolo Cambiaghi, Tommaso Pobega, Santiago Castro, and Remo Freuler either injured or doubtful.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup
Arne Slot will stick with his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk (C), Konate, Tsimikas, Endo, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Salah, Jota
Liverpool Score Prediction
Liverpool should have more than enough quality to beat Bologna, though they must guard against complacency, especially at Anfield. That being said, I expect the Reds to secure their second win of the Champions League, and score plenty of goals in the process.
Liverpool to win 4 - 1
